Curfew at Bawku Municipality renewed
Accra, Sept. 8, Ghanadot/GNA – Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor,
Minister of the Interior, Has, on the advice of the Upper
East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and by Executive
Instrument, renewed the curfew imposed on the Bawku
Municipality and Gushiegu township for another one week with
effect from Monday, September 8.
The curfew hours also remain unchanged at 2200 hours to 0400
hours for Bawku Municipality and its environs and 1900 hours
to 0500 hours for Gushiegu each day.
A statement signed by the Minister in Accra on Monday said
government was again appealing to the people of the areas to
exercise maximum restraint and help bring lasting peace to
their communities and the country as a whole.
“Government wishes to urge all well-meaning citizens to use
this holy month of Ramadan to reflect on the need to live
together in peace and to make positive contributions to the
lives and well-being of the society.”
Meanwhile, Government has reiterated that the ban on all
persons in the Bawku Municipal Area, Zabugu, Binduri, Pusiga
and Zoosi townships and their environs from carrying arms,
ammunitions or any offensive weapon still remains in force,
and any person found with any arms or ammunition would be
arrested and prosecuted.
