Two nephews kill uncle over fifty pesewas
Awutu Beraku (C/R), Sept. 8 Ghanadot/GNA - The Awutu Beraku
Magistrate Court, has remanded in prison custody two farmers
from Gomoa Akramah, who stabbed their uncle Kwesi Ntsie to
death over 50 Ghana pesewas.
The pleas of Kofi Essel, 25, and Kwesi Kwanan, 30, were not
taken and the court presided over by Mr Kofi Ahiabor ordered
them to reappear on September 10, 2008.
Narrating the facts of the case to the court, Police
Inspector Emmanuel Ofori, said on August 4, 2008 at about
1400 hours, the two accused persons confronted their uncle
who was returning from town and demanded an amount of Gp50
he owed them.
He said this resulted in a fight during which Kwanan held
the hands of the uncle while Essel stabbed him in the
stomach and the back with a chisel.
Inspector Ofori said after the crime, the assailants fled
into the bush for fear of being lynched by the residents of
the town.
He said they later sought refuge with their step father, who
is a pastor of Twelve Apostles Church at Awutu Ahentia.
The prosecution said the pastor after hearing that the two
men have committed the crime, informed the Odikro (Chief) of
the town, who mobilised people and arrested nephews and
handed them over to the Awutu Beraku Police.
