Kumasi, Aug 11, Ghanadot/GNA –
Property worth several thousands of Ghana cedis were
destroyed at the weekend when fire gutted some containers at
the Race Course market in Kumasi.

mill, gallons of palm oil, vegetables and other personal
belongings.
Eyewitnesses told Ghana News Agency that the fire started at
about 7.15 pm on Saturday and swept through some containers
at the market.
They pointed out that the fire was so intense that it caused
panic among some traders and settlers who ran helter-skelter
to avoid being trapped in the fire.
It took personnel of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH)
Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) about two hours to bring
the fire under control.
Mr Evans Anim, Station Officer of GNFS, said there were no
