Accra, Aug. 9, Ghanadot/GNA – Agro chemicals, seeds, office equipment and cash were destroyed when fire gutted the offices of Aglow Agricultural Products Limited in Accra on Friday night.

The company which deals in imported seeds and agro chemicals is located between Greater Accra Regional Directorate of Ministry of Food and Agriculture and headquarters of Saint John Ambulance on the High Street.

An eyewitness account said the fire begun at about 2200 hours following a blast from the office and a distress call was sent to the Accra Central Division of the Ghana National Fire Service.

Nii Noi Owuo, Station Officer briefing Ghana News Agency at the scene said it took the personnel about five hours to control the fire because of the chemicals involved and absence of fire hydrants in the area.
He said cause of the fire could not be determined but suspected an electrical fault.
