Kumasi, July 10, GNA - The African Union Housing Finance (AUHF) has appealed to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, for the release of land to enable the company carry out affordable housing projects for low-income workers in the region.

Mr Sampson Moraba, Chairman of the AUHF made the appeal when he called on the Asantehene at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi at the weekend.

He said as the custodian of all lands in the region, the Otumfuo was indispensable in the execution of the company's housing project, adding, housing delivery depends on the availability and an unimpeded access to land.

A statement signed by Mr G.B Osei Antwi, Media Relations Manager of Manhyia, said Mr Moraba briefed Otumfuo on the activities of AUHF and announced an impending annual general meeting slated for September 17-21, this year, in Accra.

The AUHF is a continental body with 30 members from 18 African countries.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu commended the AUHF for its initiative to embark on the project in the region and also for its plans to assist groups and estate developers to undertake projects in 30 countries.

He, however, advised the company to take the issue of shelter seriously to help address the needs of the people while also adhering to architectural designs, which were purely African, to reflect the customs and traditions of the people.
