AUHF boss calls on Asantehene
Kumasi, July 10, GNA - The African Union Housing Finance (AUHF)
has appealed to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, for
the release of land to enable the company carry out
affordable housing projects for low-income workers in the
region.
Mr Sampson Moraba, Chairman of the AUHF made the appeal when
he called on the Asantehene at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi
at the weekend.
He said as the custodian of all lands in the region, the
Otumfuo was indispensable in the execution of the company's
housing project, adding, housing delivery depends on the
availability and an unimpeded access to land.
A statement signed by Mr G.B Osei Antwi, Media Relations
Manager of Manhyia, said Mr Moraba briefed Otumfuo on the
activities of AUHF and announced an impending annual general
meeting slated for September 17-21, this year, in Accra.
The AUHF is a continental body with 30 members from 18
African countries.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu commended the AUHF for its initiative to
embark on the project in the region and also for its plans
to assist groups and estate developers to undertake projects
in 30 countries.
He, however, advised the company to take the issue of
shelter seriously to help address the needs of the people
while also adhering to architectural designs, which were
purely African, to reflect the customs and traditions of the
people.
