Northern Region NPP concerned about
activities of some presidential aspirants
Tamale, July 9, Ghanadot/GNA - The Northern Regional
Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday
expressed concern about activities by some presidential
aspirants in the region, which it said had the potential of
disorganizing the Party.
A statement issued in Tamale and signed by Mr Clifford
Braimah, the Regional NPP Secretary, said some presidential
aspirants had entered constituencies in the region to
organise party officers and potential delegates without
notifying them.
"It has taken a lot of work and dedication to stabilise the
Party in the region and such acts by the presidential
aspirants have the potential of negating all that has been
done and therefore throw the Party in the region into
confusion".
The statement expressed the regional executive's resolve to
resist any attempt by individuals or groups to undermine it,
adding that there would be constant monitoring and
moderating of activities of all aspirants or their agents in
the region.
The statement urged the NPP to remain united before, during
and after the selection of a presidential candidate and gave
the assurance that the regional leadership would present
equal opportunities to all potential aspirants.
It requested all potential aspirants and their agents to
furnish the regional leadership with their proposed
programmes for the region in advance for the leadership to
notify the constituencies in good time.
The statement appealed to all aspirants to go by the NPP's
code of conduct and focus on issues that confront the Party
and the nation, but not to discuss or attack personalities.
