Abrem-Agona-Essiam-Effutu feeder road
Abrem-Agona(C/R), July 05, Ghanadot/GNA - Nana Ato Arthur,
Central Regional Minister on Thursday cut the sod for work
to commence on the reconstruction of the 15.2 kilometre
Abrem-Agona-Essiam-Effutu feeder road estimated at about
1.81 billion Ghana cedis (18.1 billion cedis).
Contract on the reconstruction of the road awarded about a
month ago is expected to be completed within 24 months.
Nana Arthur expressed Government's determination to enhance
the socio-economic development of the people.
He said reconstruction of two other feeder roads, from
Komenda junction to the town estimated at about 654 million
Ghana cedis (6.54 billion cedis) and from Esaaman junction
to Ankwaanda, estimated at about 55 million Ghana cedis (5.5
billion cedis) have also been awarded on contract and work
on them would begin soon.
Nana Arthur said efforts were being made to improve
infrastructure in second cycle institutions in the area, and
appealed to the people to support Government and refrain
from land litigation to facilitate more development.
He urged the youth employed by the contractor working on the
project, to be hardworking and refrain from pilfering at the
project site.
Nana Agyeman Kyirewia Kordie, Omanhene of Abrem Traditional
Area, expressed appreciation for the reconstruction of the
road and commended Government for its development projects.
He noted that the deplorable nature of the road made it
difficult to transport foodstuffs to marketing centres and
urged the supervisors on the project and Central Regional
Directorate of Feeder roads to ensure the project was
executed efficiently, effectively and on schedule.
Mr Theophilus Biney, Acting Managing Director of Eagle Star
Construction firm, based in Accra, the contractor appealed
for support from the chiefs and people to ensure its early
completion.
He said so far about 20 youths in the area had been engaged
to work on the project and the number would be increased to
50.
