Globacom rolls out plans for Ghana
operation
Accra, June 20, Ghanadot/GNA –
Cellular communications giants, Globacom, has rolled out
plans for operation in Ghana days after winning the coveted
licence to start operating in the country.
The communication service providers say it is set to roll
out very aggressively in Ghana shortly.
Mr Yinka Olafimihan, Head, New Markets, told the GNA in
Accra on Friday that, Globacom was about people, service and
possibilities, and offering a better service to surpass
their competitors remained the dream.
He said they were determined to extend to Ghana their “world
class” reputation as the harbinger of hope and great things
that would ensure that things were never the same as far as
telecommunication was concerned.
“Globacom will ensure that, the trust so freely reposed in
us by the people is not misplaced.”
Mr. Olafimihan said the company was consciously founded on
the philosophy of elevating people and giving life more
positive meaning.
He reckoned the task ahead may look tough, but gave the
assurance that; “we will meet and surely surpass your
expectations”.
He said Globacom pioneered the introduction into the
Nigerian telecoms market numerous value added services which
include GPRS, MMS, Glo Magic Plus, Vehicle Tracking, Caller
Tunes, Mobile Banking and Blackberry and would travel the
extra mile in Ghana to ensure consumers were satisfied.
“We will pursue with uncommon vigour and focus to ensure
that Globacom will easily be the pathfinder in the Ghanaian
market as it is in Nigeria.”
The National Communications Authority (NCA) on June 12,
2008, declared Globacom winner of the international contest
for its mobile cellular licence.
The NCA cited Globacom’s superior technical presentation,
pedigree and extensive rollout plan for Ghana as among the
reason for winning the bid.
Globacom becomes the sixth cellular network after Onetouch,
Tigo, Kasapa, MTN and Celltel.
