Regenerative Health and Nutrition programme for Wa

WA, April 21, GNA - A team of experts from the Ministry of Health and the African Hebrew Development Agency (AHDA), on Friday held a meeting with stakeholders in the Wa Municipality to educate them on the Regenerative Health and Nutrition (RHN) programme.

It seeks to promote healthy life styles and nutrition to increase productivity and prolong life.

About 50 people made up of personnel from the security agencies in Wa, officials of the Ministry of Health, representatives of health centred non-governmental organizations, traditional rulers and religious groups and organizations participated.
The team would visit schools, churches, hospitals and clinics and organise quiz, plays and dramatic sketches on how to live healthy lives in the Municipality, which is one of its pilot districts.

Dr Amadiel Ben Yahuda, Executive Director of AHDA, said the programme was community based with the goal of influencing people to eat food good for their health.
He said the Ministry of Health now placed emphasis on the prevention of diseases than building hospitals and clinics, which often gave establishments like drug manufacturers the chance to make profit the sickness of people.

The AHDA Executive Director stated that eating fruits and vegetables, drinking enough water and undertaking regular physical exercises were the best way of fortifying the body's immune system to keep healthy.

Alhaji Osman Salifu, Municipal Coordinating Director, said the success of the programme nationwide would reduce the medical expenditure of the government and individuals.
