NYEP not "job for the boys"
Jasikan (V/R), April 11, GNA - Mr Solomon Donkor, Jasikan
District Chief Executive has stated that the National Youth
Employment Programme initiated by the government was not
"job for the boys", but a means of taking the youth out of
inactivity.
Speaking at an orientation workshop for 423 teaching
assistants he admonished the recruits to attach the needed
seriousness to the programme.
He advised them to dress properly to class to serve as role
models for their pupils.
Mr Donkor cautioned the trainees against the writing of
anonymous letters and warned that anyone who broke any rule
would be sacked.
He stated that the District was spending 80 million cedis
for mock examination for JSS Three candidates to improve
standards and said the District was depending on the
teaching assistants to achieve that goal.
Mr Frederick Afesi, District Director of Education assured
the recruits about the readiness of all stakeholders to
ensure their welfare and urged them to learn fast on the
job.
He stressed the importance of lesson notes in keeping them
on track and asked them to regularly give the pupils
assignments.
Mr Donkor Bediakor, District NYEP Co-ordinator refuted the
assertion that NPP supporters were being given employment
saying no one was asked of his or her political affiliation
before being employed.
