Woman 26 remanded for murdering husband

Apam (C/R), March 24, GNA - Deborah Saakwa, 26 year-old seamstress has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly murdering her husband, Napoleon Bentum a 44 year-old seaman.

Mr Charles Wiafe, presiding at an Apam Magistrate Court remanded the accused to reappear before the court on April 16 2007.

According to the prosecution, Bentum, alias Kwesi Attah and Deborah also known as Maame Attah both hailed from Gomoa Abrekum near Apam and had been married for six years.

On March 15 this year, the accused asked permission from the deceased to attend a funeral at a village near Agona Nyakrom but the husband refused.

However the woman insisted on going and this resulted in a misunderstanding between the two during which the accused stabbed the husband in the groin with a kitchen knife.

Bentum bled profusely and died when he was being conveyed to the Apam Hospital where the body has been deposited for autopsy.
