KNUST College of Engineering advisory
board inaugurated
Kumasi, March 19, GNA- Nana Sarfo Boakye, an Engineering
Consultant, has appealed to engineering colleges in the
country's universities to position themselves to meet the
challenges facing the nation's industry.
He said the quest of the nation to attain a middle-income
status would depend on the investments made in engineering
and the commitment of practitioners to face the challenges.
Nana Boakye made the call at the inauguration of an advisory
board for the College of Engineering of the KNUST in Kumasi
on Friday.
He stressed the need for attention to be given to
engineering in the country to help move the country forward
in its development.
Professor Seth Opuni Asiamah, President of the KNUST Alumni,
who inaugurated the eleven-member board, said they were
expected to help the College strengthen its links with
industry, government and other stakeholders.
The board has been charged to bring to the College the
latest concerns and challenges of industry and information
that was vital to the fulfillment of the College's mandate.
Professor Asiamah said the board in addition, was expected
to assist the College to improve its fiscal status through
the College's fund-raising activities.
The eleven-member board has five people from the Ghana
Institution of Engineers, four from the Industry and two
others nominated by the Vice Chancellor and the Provost of
the College.
