Radio presenters asked to contribute
to education on NHIS
Kumasi, March 17, GNA – The Information Technology Manager
of the Subin-Sub-Metro of the National Health Insurance
Scheme (NHIS), Mr William Boateng has asked radio
journalists to use their medium in educating the populace on
the importance of the health insurance scheme.
He said some radio journalists had in recent times been
spreading false information about NHIS to make the scheme
look bad.
Mr Boateng made the call in an interview with the Ghana News
Agency at his office in Kumasi at the weekend.
He stated that the scheme had, as at the end of 2006
registered 40 per cent of the people in the sub-metro and
attributed that to government’s advert which was being run
on both the electronic and print media.
He explained that the scheme was faced with numerous
challenges which hindered its progress and operations.
He mentioned some of the challenges as the mailing of
complete cards to owners, most of whom, after providing
address and wrong information to the scheme managers.
Mr Boateng advised Ghanaians to develop positive attitude
towards the scheme to make it progress.
He appealed to all citizens who had not yet register to do
so to enable them to access quality and affordable health
care.
