Accra, July 31, Ghanadot -
Professor Agyemang Badu Akosa, a leading member of the
convention People's Party, (CPP) has said that the party
would become a formidable one if it shirks from its alliance
mood and reflect on the suffering of the masses of the
people.
Professor Akosa in an interview said, since the year 2000,
the CPP has been in alliance mood and that has kept the
party in doldrums for far too long.
"We should by virtue of our tradition relate better with the
suffering masses of the people to reflect the vision of the
party in our bid to win the presidential seat", he said.
He further intimated that the CPP had to get it clear that
the party was in the Presidential race to win the seat of
government saying, "we need to galvanise and build the CPP".
Commenting on his ambition to lead the CPP in the 2012
general elections, Professor Akosa said he would at the
appropriate time make his intentions known.
On the centenary celebration of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Professor
Akosa said he was overwhelmed that the African Union had
accepted September 21 as Nkrumah's birthday.
"I believe it is a right message to all African leaders that
their selfless leadership will some day be recognised", he
added.
He was however not happy that the minority had opposed to
Nkrumah's centenary celebration saying, the opposition
should realise that they are where they are today because of
the sacrifice of Nkrumah, Ghana's first President.
