The president's brother defends his appointment to the economic council
By Abdul Salam Sule, Ghanadot

Accra, May 1, Ghanadot - Dr Cadman Attahh Mills, the twin brother of President Mills has said, his appointment to the Economic Advisory Council by the President was purely based on merit but not favoritism.

The appointment of Dr Cadman Mills as a member of a 10 man Economic Advisory Council received sharp criticism from some members of the main opposition party who said the President had practised favoritism and nepotism.

But Dr Cadman thought otherwise. In a press release issued today, he described his appointment as purely based on merit.

According to him, his broad knowledge in economics and vast experience in the same field makes him qualified to be a member of the Economic Advisory Council.

Dr Cadman noted that, Ghana could not be free from the global economic crunch and it was important an economic council was instituted to help manage the crisis with the help of existing economic institutions.

He promised to bring his experience to bear in Ghana's quest to managing the impact of the international and domestic economic crisis.

In his career as a an economist, Dr Cadman Attah Mills had worked with the United Nations and the World Bank.
