Office of Vice President denies using 17 fleet of cars as convoy
BY Abdul Salam Sule, Ghanadot

Accra, April 15, Ghanadot - An associate of the Vice President, Mr Kassambata Yaro has denied media report that, Mr John Dramani Mahama, the Vice President over the weekend used 17 fleet of cars for his convoy.

In today's edition of the Statesman newspaper, the paper carried on its front page a story which said, Vice President John Mahama over the weekend used 17 fleet of brand new cars for his convoy.

According to the paper, the big convoy by the Vice President was contrary to the promise by the President who pledged to use small convoy under his presidency in order to cut cost.

However, Mr Yaro Kassambata, an associate of the Vice President has described the story as false. According to him, Mr John Dramani Mahama on the said occasion over the weekend used only one car and one dispatch rider.

He explained that, on Saturday April 11 this year, Joyce Tamakloe Foundation invited the Vice President to a fund raising ceremony at the polo grounds in Accra. He said, prior to that, the foundation had organised a car rally to solicit funds to support patients suffering from prostrate cancer.

The convoy of the Vice President he said caught up with the car rally near the airport. "But the fleet of cars was never part of the convoy of the the Vice President but private individuals who are using their cars to solicit funds. The Vice President was using only one car with one dispatch motor rider", Mr Kassambata explained.

Mr Yaro Kassambata reiteriated the commitment by the Presidency to stick to its political promise of using small convoy, saying, the President and his Vice believe in modesty.
