NPP IS ENERGISED FOR 2012’ SAYS AKUFO-ADDO, AS HE ENDS PRE-PRIMARIES NATIONAL TOUR

The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the national leadership of the Party have successfully completed the nationwide tour ahead of the upcoming April 30 Parliamentary Primaries of the Party.

For this tour, the delegation focused its attention on the party and its internal arrangements for the parliamentary primaries to be held in two months.

Nana Addo has since expressed his profound gratitude to the entire membership of the Party across the country for their support and cooperation when the leadership came to their respective Regions for the exercise.

The Flagbearer, who returned to Accra Friday evening described the tour as a “huge success, which has given all of us additional motivation for the task ahead. What we saw was a party, energised and focused on the ultimate goal of victory in 2012. The spirit of togetherness, even under this current atmosphere of competition was encouraging.”

He has called on all members and activists of the Party to “keep up the spirit and enthusiasm and build on that to drive us to victory in 2012.”

Nana Addo said, “Even though the focus was more on the party, we took the opportunity to also assess the impact of the Government’s negative policies and programmes on the people. The more we saw the more inspired we were of the need to win power in 2012 and create a brighter future for the Ghanaian people.”

According to Nana Addo, “the young people of Ghana, wherever you go are crying for education, skills and jobs. What is even more disheartening is the high level of pessimism that has built up among the youth of Ghana over the last couple of years. We need to bring back hope.”

The leadership of the Party put together the tour to listen to concerns and views of the Party at the grassroots level, lay down the rules of fair play to ensure successful parliamentary primaries, as a necessary platform for the 2012 campaign.

According to Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, this proactive move by the leadership of the party before the primaries has given a major boost to the people on the ground. “They are well-energised. We have motivated them to have the courage, commitment and concentration to lead us to victory. They are going all out to sell our message and protect the ballot.”

He explained, “The first task to winning the election is to mobilise, energise and consolidate your own support base. That means ensuring successful primaries, and using that platform to get everybody to work together for both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections. The message of the Flagbearer has also energised the Party nationwide.”
