DCE to be people, development centred

Accra, July 29, Ghanadot - The
District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Mr.
Alhassan Shakuor Bukari has stated that his tenure of office
would be people and development centred.
He said, for this reason he would fail as a DCE if only he
sits in the office to receive visitors rather than moving
into the hinter lands to identify himself with the people
and their problems.
Mr. Bukari said this when he and his entourage including,
the Northern Regional Manager of the Department of Feeder
Roads, Mr. Don F. Kuubeterzie and the District Engineer, Mr.
Gilbert Diabah paid a four day familiarization visit to
communities in the Senyiri area of the district.
Addressing durbars held in his honour in communities such as
Kawie, Blema, Dagbigu, Dinee and Taari, the DCE thanked the
people for the role they played in the National Democratic
Congress (NDC) government back to power.
Mr. Bukari called on the different ethnic groups in the
district to remain united for the rapid development of the
area.
He disclosed that plans were advanced to construct a bridge
across river Gbongbon and reconstruct bad roads that links
farming communities to market centres.
Mr. Bukari pledged a GH50, 000 package to reconstruct the
Dagbigu Primary School which serves about five communities
which was raid off by a current rainstorm, and also provides
the Kawie community with primary, junior high school and
CHIPS compound to serve the surrounding communities.
He hinted that the formation of two new electoral areas in
Kawie and Gbiniyiri, while four new polling stations would
be created to ease the long distances people walk to
exercise their franchise.
Mr. Bukari further disclosed that the formation of a seven
member community police which would collaborate with the
security agencies in the district to curb the worsening
crime situation in the district.
He revealed that the connection of five communities to the
national grid by the end of his tenure of office.
The Chiefs of the various communities lauded the DCE for
taking the initiative of coming to meet with them in their
communities, which according to them, has never happened
before.
They pledged their unflinching support for the
DCE to see his quest in developing the district.
