Accra, May 25, Ghanadot - The Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) of Silicon Consult, Mr. Emmanuel
Frimpong, has advised the government to collaborate with the
private sector to develop agriculture, so as to feed the nation
and export the surplus for foreign exchange.
The company, which is an Accra-based consulting training firm,
has expertise in agriculture, aviation, oil and gas fields.
Mr. Frimpong was speaking at a day’s workshop for about 50
participants held in Accra.
The participants were taken through basic knowledge in fish
farming, snail rearing, grass cutter farming, and other methods
of agribusiness.
He said the main aim of his company, was to impact the know-how
in fish farming, so as to encourage more and more people to be
trained and venture into it.
This, Mr. Frimpong believed, would bridge the gap in supply and
demand in the consumption of fish in Ghana.
The CEO explained to the participants that after training, the
company would send Qualified Extension Staff to provide
extension services to farmers to improve yields, as well as the
growth of their various ventures, so as to maximise profits and
its sustainability.
He disclosed that Silicon Consult was in partnership with the
Pro-Credit Financial Service, a non-banking institution, which
would be providing loans to people who would be graduating from
the company.
Mr. Frimpong disclosed that Dizengoff Ghana would also provide
farmers with all kinds of fish meals, nets and equipment to
enhance the growth of their farming and grass cutter activities.
Mr. David Ebo Grant, Programmes Manger of Silicon Consult, urged
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and financial institutions
to come to the aid of the youth who are willing to venture in to
agribusinesses. This would enable the youth have access to
credit facilities.
He explained that agribusiness was more lucrative than cocoa
farming, hence the need for the large number of unemployed
graduates, as well as the youth in petty trading activities to
take a second look, and go into agro-ventures to improve their
living conditions.
