I endorse Nana Akuffo Addo-Harona Esseku
Audrey Micah. Ghanadot

Accra, Oct 14, Ghanadot - Harona Esseku, the former National Chairman of the New Patritotic Party (NPP) has reiterated his endorsement of Nana Akuffo Addo as the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2012 general elections.

He still maintains his assertion that, Nana Addo’s closest rival, Alan Kyeremanteng cannot win power for the Party in 2012.

According to him, Alan Kyeremanteng has not shown enough commitment to the New Patriotic Party and therefore does not have the tenacity needed to lead the party to the 2012 elections.

It is recalled that Mr. Alan Kyeremanteng resigned from the NPP after losing the party’s 2007 Presidential primaries to Nana Akufo Addo, citing intimidation and harassment of his supporters.

In an interview with Citi FM, however believes that that decision by Alan raises questions about his commitment to the NPP.

“If you lose elections and then you say people are not talking well about you and you are annoyed, you don’t resign. He resigned. This I wouldn’t call tenacity and ability to stick to your philosophy and ideals. Somebody who is going to be my flagbearer should be able to take more than that and still stay”

In contrast, Mr. Esseku believes Nana Addo has shown since 1992 that he is a committed member of the party and should therefore be given another opportunity to lead the party to the 2012 general elections.

“This is a man who has put a lot of resources and a lot of his time into the writing of the constitution of the party and since then has been very active in the party…and so when I talk of him, I talk of him as somebody I have worked with.

"I know his tenacity, his capacity, and his ability to be a flagbearer and I can testify to that but I can’t do that for Alan.” He said.

Mr. Harona Esseku added that, Nana Addo’s capacity to work and his tenacity to stick to ideas make him the best candidate to lead the NPP to victory in 2012.
