I have resigned-Muntaka Mubarak
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot
Accra, June 26, Ghanadot - The
Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Mubarak Muntaka who was
asked by President Mills to proceed on leave to make way for
investigation for his alleged embezzlement of state funds
has resigned.
He confirmed that he sent his resignation letter to the
President yesterday, following the findings on the
investigations sent to the President by the National
Security Agency.
Mr. Mubarak expressed his profound appreciation to God for
exonerating him, saying “let me take the opportunity to
thank God for exonerating me”.
In an interview with Citi FM, the ex-minister said he was
worried about how the media and other members of the general
public victimized even before the start of the
investigations.
According to him, the reason why he did not resign before
was because he was innocent of the crime and was even ready
to be jailed when proven otherwise.
“I did not resign all these while because I was prepared to
go to jail; I knew I was innocent.”
He commended President Mills for being patient and giving
him the chance to also explain his side of the whole story.
The President has accepted the minister’s decision to resign
his position as Minister of Youth and Sports and has thanked
him for the services that he has rendered to the state.
President Mills also welcome the offer by the ex-minister to
good to the state all liabilities incurred on account of Ms.
Zinayela’s trip to Germany including the visa fee.
