Kwesi Pratt: choosing Wereko Brobby was Kufuor's greatest mistake
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, June 23, Ghanadot - Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper has said the worst mistake the former President, Agyekum Kufuor made during New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration as president of Ghana was to have appointed Dr. Charles Wereko Brobby, also known as ‘Tarzan" as Chairman of the Volta River Authority (VRA) Board, which to him, made NPP unpopular.

Explaining his point on Peace FM, Mr Pratt said, some of the major difficulties the NPP government experienced came from the VRA, the board of which outfit was chaired by Dr Brobby. He added that, another event which added to their problems is the Ghana@50 celebration which was also steered by Dr. Brobby.

Mr. Pratt Jnr.was speaking in reaction to criticisms and allegations Dr Brobby leveled on him and two of his colleagues, Ben Ephson of Daily Dispatch newspaper and Ametor Kwame of Ghana Palava newspaper for calling him a thief, and alleging that he had embezzled Ghana@50 celebration money.

According to Mr. Pratt, the former President should not have appointed Dr Brobby in the first place because the latter campaigned against the NPP before they came to power in the year 2000.

He was quick to add that the government should immediately start the investigation on Dr Brobby since he has caused tremendous financial loss to the state.

Meanwhile, Dr. Brobbey who was also the Chief Executive of the Ghana@50 Secretariat has welcomed the setting up of the Presidential Commission of Enquiry into the work of the Secretariat and the events of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence.

Dr. Wereko-Brobby hoped that all those who have made incessant and very noisy accusations of rot and malfeasance since the Secretariat was established three years ago will now come out boldly and fearlessly before the Commission to substantiate and prove their charges before the good people of Ghana.
