Youth Group Cleans up at Arts Centre

Accra, Nov. 28, Ghanadot/GNA- The Arts Centre Branch of the Constituency Action Youth has organized a cleaning exercise at the Arts Centre to help rid the place of filth and diseases.

About 200 members of the association undertook the exercise, which was supported by the Accra Metropolitan, Zoomlion Ghana, and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council.

Mr. Anthony Brenya, who is the Secretary of the Association, expressed his disappointment at the fast rate at which filth was engulfing the Centre and urged the stakeholders to put a stop to it.

He appealed to them to keep the centre neat to maintain their health and the image of the nation because of the high number of tourists, mainly foreigners, who patronise the place on daily basis.

Mr. Brenya called on the local government to provide the centre with enough containers for the collection of rubbish and to stop the indiscriminate defecation and the rearing of animals, which mostly fed on the refuse dumps at the centre.

Mr. Henry Asomah, Deputy Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, praised the youth for the initiative and promised them the assistance of the Council. NSOC 07 Social Crime Police criminal cases in Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam set to reduce

Ajumako (C/R) Nov 28, GNA - The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region has this year recorded 249 criminal cases, an indication that the annual level would drop from last year's total of 277.

The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent ofm Police (ASP) Seth Tay, made the statement when addressing the Ajumako Traditional Council, at Ajumako.

He said stealing cases were 53 so far, while last year's total was 72.

He attributed the signs of reduction to the hard work of the Police and some stakeholders.

The Police Commander appealed to communities wishing to form Neighbourhood Watchdog Committees to contact his office for guidelines and support.

The Omanhene and President of the Council, Nana Kwamena Hammah Ababio II, expressed concern about the improper dressing of some of the youth in the area.

He, therefore, urged the chiefs, religious leaders and other stakeholders in the area to help to enact bye-laws with punitive measures to stop the indecent practice.
