Five wee sellers and smokers arrested by Winneba Police

Winneba (C/R) June 14, Ghanadot/GNA— The Winneba Police on Saturday arrested five people suspected to be dealing in wee, during a dawn raid on their hide-outs in the Effutu Municipality.


The Municipal Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Francis Yiribaare who made this known to the Ghana News Agency in Winneba, listed the suspects as Customs Newton, Ebenezer Bonney, Joseph Kwaw Acheampong, Kofi Anan and Mohammed Alhassan.


They were arrested at Winneba Zongo, Methodist Primary B School, Sankro beach and the Boatyard after a tiff off.


He said a search on the suspects unveiled some dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.


ASP Yiribaare said the leaves would be sent to the Police Crime Laboratory in Accra, for examination before the suspects would be arraigned.


He said the police had intensified their operations against criminals and urged the public to co-operate by giving them information about their hideouts.
