Bank official remanded for stealing customers’ deposits

Ajumako (C/R), May 11, Ghanadot/GNA — The Ajumako district magistrate court has remanded an employee of Assinman Rural Bank Agency at Ajumako for embezzling 9,500.00 Ghana cedis belonging to six customers of the bank.

Eric Acquah pleaded guilty to five of the six and he is to reappear on May 11.

Prosecuting Police chief Inspector Maxwell Emmanuel Akorley told the court that in April, an auditing report showed that Acquah had withdrawn a total of 9,500.00 Ghana cedis from the accounts of the six customers between November 2006 and February 2009.

Police investigations revealed that Acquah used a greater part of the money to buy cars.
