Need to establish an
Agricultural Development Fund
Kumasi, March 31,
Ghanadot/GNA - Government has been urged to establish an
Agricultural Development Fund for farming institutions and
quasi-farming institutions to source funding to facilitate their
operations.
Mr Alex Seffah-Boachie, Finance and Administration Manager of
AGRICARE Limited, producers of quality feed concentrates, made
the appeal in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA), in
Kumasi.
He explained that establishment of the fund similar to Ghana
Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) would be a more proactive means
to source funds than to be granted loans from the banks at high
interest rates.
Mr Seffah-Boachie urged farmers especially those in the poultry
sector to align themselves with the advocacy initiated by
Private Enterprise Foundation on the need for government to set
up the fund.
He assured farmers of the company’s preparedness to offer free
technical services at farm gates by experienced animal
scientists and periodic education programmes.
