months for forgery
Kumasi, March 25, Ghanadot/GNA - A 21-year-old Engineering
Student of Takoradi Polytechnic, Mighty Bigson was on Wednesday
jailed 36 months in hard labour on his own plea by a Kumasi
Circuit Court for forgery.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Archibald Kwesi Fandoh told
the court presided over by Mr Amoh Yartey that Bigson visited
his girl friend at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and
Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on March 19.
He said while in the room, Bigson saw the savings book of his
girl friend’s room mate and quickly wrote down the accounts
number and her full name.
The prosecution said on March 23, Bigson went to Adum branch of
Ghana Commercial Bank, took a withdrawal form, filled it and
forged the signature of the holder and presented it for payment.
He said Bigson wanted to withdraw the entire GH¢300 in the
account and the cashier became surprised with a woman’s
photograph on the account in the computer and upon
interrogations by officials of the bank the case was reported to
the police and after investigations charged with the offence.
