Don’t commercialize the gospel- Moderator

Sekyeredumase (Ash), March 16, Ghanadot/GNA - The Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has said preaching of the gospel was not money making business.

He said preaching the gospel was meant to salvage society from evil deeds and advised those who have commercialized the gospel to desist from the practice.

Rt. Rev. Dr Frimpong-Manso said this in a sermon at the unveiling of a foundation stone for work to start on a church building for the Christ Congregation Presbyterian Church at Sekyeredumase on Sunday.

He said it was sad some Christians had adopted certain lifestyles and practices that are alien to biblical principles, tenets and doctrines and this is tarnishing the image of Christianity.

“Practices like occultism, fake revelations and selling of the gospel that has bombarded certain churches should be condemned by well meaning Christians if the church were to progress steadily”.

He commended President John Evans Atta Mills for his passion for prayers and appealed to other Ghanaian leaders to be God fearing to help Ghana achieve its development goals.

Rev. Stephen Osei Sarpong, the Sekyere Presbytery Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church, said the construction of a new church would increase the church’s membership.
