Help Market Young Poets- Joyce Aryee
By Abdul Salam Sule, Ghanadot

Accra.arch 13, Ghanadot - Ms Joyce Aryee, the Executive Director of Ghana Chamber of Mines has called on communication experts to help to country's young poets and other artists to market themselves.

Such assistance, she stated would exhibit the talents in poetry and arts to other Ghanaians and the outside world as well as attract more young people to the arts.

Ms Joyce Aryee said this during the launch of a programme of literary recitals dubbed, 'Voice of Ghana' and which was organised by the Ghana Association of Writers, (GAW).

She noted that many of today's youth had little involvement with poetry or literature and it was encouraging for GAW to initiate the year long programme of poetry recitals.

Ms Joyce Aryee therefore urged GAW to sustained the programme saying, it would go a long way to encourage the youth to take part in poetry and arts.

On his part, Mr Moses Tetteh, Chairman of Computer Information Systems (CIS) and who sponsored the programme said, the arts including poetry could make significant contributions in the transformation of lives.

"Arts and poetry should therefore be preserved, nurtured and handed over to our children as a legacy", he advised.

He described CIS Ghana as a total computer provider which partner with many world-wide and reputable companies to deliver IT products and services in many sectors of the Ghana's economy.

According to Mr Moses, CIS Ghana had always been supportive of the arts and welcomed the opportunity to assist to pioneer the novelty of discovering new poetry talents.

The President of Ghana Association of Writers, Dr Selbi Ashong-Katai, said the programme was intended to spread the literature word by creating a forum for young writers.
