Nana Konadu calls for support for successful governance

Tema, March 10, Ghanadot/GNA – Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings on Tuesday underscored the need for Ghanaians, especially members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rally behind President John Evans Atta Mills to run a successful government to develop the nation.

She said the ruling government has come to relieve Ghanaians of undue hardships from the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and called on all to pray unceasingly for God’s guidance and direction that the leadership runs the nation to the satisfaction of all.

Nana Konadu made the call when she addressed women from Tema, Manhean and Ashaiman at Tema to show appreciation to the constituents for voting massively for the victory of the NDC in the 2008 elections.

Together with her entourage, she toured the Ashaiman and Tema main markets to thank the women who responded with the NDC slogan “Yasesem”, meaning we have changed the system.

Most of the women who followed the former First Lady wore the red beret of the 31st December Women’s Movement and were clad in NDC paraphernalia.

She gave the assurance that the nation, under the able leadership of President Mills and his qualified Ministers would administer the government according to the party’s manifesto saying that, already these have started with the reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

According to her, plans were underway to implement measures that would bring relief to the people but stressed the need that these are reciprocated with hard work and honesty in their daily activities.

The Former First Lady said the government would ensure that social vices such as armed robbery, corruption and narcotic deals were eliminated from the system for sanity to prevail.
