Muslim students
deplore outbreak of fresh violence at Bawku
Cape Coast, March 5, Ghanadot/GNA - The Ghana Muslim
Students Association of Ghana (GMSA) has expressed concern
about the outbreak of fresh violence at Bawku, and called on
the people to exercise restraint and comply with government
directives for an amicable and lasting solution to the
conflict.
In a release issued at Cape Coast on Thursday and signed by
Mr Umar Ahmed, National President, said it was aware of the
efforts being made by government to bring the situation
under control.
It suggested that to enhance restoration of peace in the
area, government should institute a “proper” dialogue with
the chiefs, opinion leaders and youth groups.
The statement said the Minister of Justice and
Attorney-General should not delay in prosecuting
perpetrators of the carnage, and the security agencies
allowed to perform.
It was optimistic these measures would help to resolve the
conflict in the area.
