Accra, July 12, Ghanadot -
The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) which was shut down for
some major maintenance has on Thursday begun dispensing fuel
to oil tankers for onward distribution to pump stations
across the country.
According to them, the shortage that has hit
southern part of Ghana must ease by close of day.
The last few days have seen long queues of vehicles at fuel
stations.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum
Authority (NPA), Alex Mould, has disclosed that the
situation should begin to be normal by the close of the day.
He said the country secured over 40m litres from two supply
vessels and this must be enough for the next 10-14 days.
He said there is more fuel
in the pipe line which should arrive
over the coming weekend and that there should be “no
cause for alarm”.
The NPA boss also urged consumers to desist from panic
buying, maintaining that the country has enough supply.
“I think we should have enough products all over the
country.”
