As Zimbabwe lurches deeper into crisis this week, with an
apparent stalemate in the tentative negotiations between the
government and the opposition, the man who salvaged Kenya's
political crisis earlier this year insisted a peace deal was
'doable'.
Nobel peace winner and former UN secretary general Kofi Annan
told the Observer in an exclusive interview that there was a
real possibility of a solution in Zimbabwe, but he was scathing
about the plight the beleagured country's people had been left
in, saying the worsening situation there "shamed Africa".
