Bushfire destroys settler communities

Nkoranza (B/A), Feb. 26, Ghanadot/GNA- Bushfire has destroyed 26 thatched houses, personal belongings and foodstuffs at Krutu, a settler farming community in Nkoranza District of Brong-Ahafo Region.


Mr Kwadwo Baafi, Zonal Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in-charge of Nkwabeng in the district, told Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza that maize, millet, yams, cowpeas and groundnuts were burnt and the victims were displaced.


He appealed to the District Assembly and NADMO to assist the affected persons with relief items.


Mr Akrapim Baffoe, assembly member for Asuoso in the district, also told GNA that there was bushfire at Asuoso and Kwafre resulting in the destruction of large quantities of food stuffs and personal belongings.


GNA learnt that cashew farms in Kranka in the district were destroyed by bushfire.
