Dr Nduom promises more jobs if voted for
Bolgatanga, Feb 25, GNA- Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom,
presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP),
on Monday pledged to create more jobs to relieve relief the
people of their economic woes if elected as President of
Ghana.
He said the CPP was known for its legacy of creating more
jobs and cited that the CPP under the first President of
Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah established many factories and
industries that employed many Ghanaians.
Dr Nduom said these when he paid a courtesy call on Naba
Martin Abilba II, the Paramount Chief of Bolgatanga, and
chiefs in the region to show appreciation for being voted as
the presidential candidate of the party.
The presidential candidate, who was also in the region to
seek the mandate of the people in the 2008 Election, said if
elected president, he would re-open the defunct Zuarungu
meat factory and strengthen the tomato factory there.
He wondered why the meat factory was not functioning and
asked whether there were no animals or raw materials in the
region to feed such a factory.
Dr Nduom assured the people that a CPP government would
ensure that tomatoes produced in Ghana would be bought by
Ghanaians traders from Burkina Faso would not be allowed to
purchase the vegetable at the expense of the Ghanaians.
He also said a CPP administration would discourage the
importation of foreign goods including rice that could be
produced in the country.
Dr Nduom said “Through all these means, a lot of jobs would
be created for the young men and women to put monies into
their pockets to enhance their livelihood.”
He said the situation where Ghanaian youth risk their lives
by travelling outside the country in search of greener
pastures would be a thing of the past under a CPP rule.
Dr Nduom said Ghanaians had experienced both the National
Democratic Party (NDC) and the New Patriotic party (NPP)
governments and would want to have the CPP as an alternative
change to salvage the people from their plight.
He appealed to the people to re-examine their economic
statues and vote the CPP to power to redeem them from their
woes.
Naba Abilba said the CPP was known for its commitment to
development and that could attract the people to vote for
the party.
He said he had no doubt of the ability of the flag bearer to
rule the nation efficiently since he had served the nation
well when he worked in the NPP Government.
Dr Nduom who was accompanied by Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet,
General Secretary of the Party, Professor Abubakar Alhassan,
a member of the CPP Central Committee and regional
executives of the party visited the Bolgatanga branch of
Ghana Private Road Transport Union Executive to seek their
mandate in the forthcoming polls.
The presidential candidate asked the people to vote the CPP
to power to enable it to practice good governance.
Mr. Mohammed Siitah Abubakar, the Industrial Relations
Officer of the Union, commended Dr Nduom for showing decency
in his electioneering campaign and pledged the union’s
unflinching support for the party in the forthcoming
election.
