Bui workers are not on strike

Sunyani, Dec. 19, Ghanadot/GNA – Mr. Anthony Osafo-Kissi, Resident Engineer of Bui Power Authority, has dismissed reports that Ghanaian workers at the Bui Dam site had staged a demonstration in demand for increase in salaries and payment of salary arrears.

“There are distortions about what is happening here and this is just one clear example”, he told the GNA in a telephone interview.
Mr Osafo-Kissi said it was not true that workers at the site were on strike and had mounted road blocks in the area.

He said negotiations were going on between the Chinese firm executing the project and Ghanaian workers in respect of salary increases and these started in August.
