Ghanaians should discuss how the nation could benefit from its natural resources
By Awudu Salami Sule, Ghanadot

Dr Daniel Sedar, lecturer at the Central University College has asked Ghanaians to devote more time on discussing how the nation could benefit from its natural resources such as gold and diamond but not on oil.

According the university lecturer, until the time Ghana starts to drill its oil, it has no control over the prices of crude oil on the world market and no amount of debate over it could benefit the nation.

"But we have control over our gold and cocoa and that is what we should be discussing to find ways that we shall benefit immensely from it", he said.

Dr Sadar who was speaking in an interview noted that, prices of gold and cocoa are going up on the world market but Ghana benefits very little from it.

"This is what all of us should be discussing but we are rather wasting time discussing about fuel prices which the country has no control over it", he noted.

He has therefore urged Ghanaians especially poltical commentators to devote much of their time in providing constructive ideas on how the country could developed it natural resources to the benefit of the poor.
