Workers of NIA to resume work
today

Information available to Ghanadot
has it that, workers of the National Identification
Authority (NIA) will resume work today. This was after the
workers, mostly the Mobile Registration Operators took a
break since December last year.
Ghanadot can confirmed that, the workers were moved from
Accra to Volta Region on Monday May 10 and have since been
dispatched to their various destinations awaiting to resume
work this morning.
The resumption of the work by the mobile registration
operators has not come without some agitations by the
workers. Thus, at a point in time, the workers had to staged
a demonstration to drum home their demand for their 3 months
unpaid salary.
The National Identification Authority started was set up in
the year 2003 but started operations in 2008 to implement
the National identification system that would enable
Government to securely and undoubtedly verify the identity
of all citizens and other nationals who live in Ghana.
The National Identification Authority has so far covered
three regions in Ghana and they are Central, Western and
Eastern Region. They are currently at in the Volta Region.
