Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, Sept 27, Ghanadot - The Northern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Sylvester Kanyi has stated that everything is set for the election on Tuesday.

In an interview on Peace FM, Mr. Kanyi disclosed that papers with the photographs of the candidates and materials needed for the exercise are in the constituency.

“All election materials are in Chereponi, they are in sufficient quantities and we’re we’ll not face any shortages anywhere. The only thing left is the ballot paper. It will certainly be in today and will be sent to Chereponi tomorrow…everything is in place in Chereponi.”

By Tuesday, September 29th, 23,270 registered voters in the Chereponi Constituency of the Northern Region would cast their ballots in 55 polling stations, to elect a successor to Madam Doris Asibi Seidu former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the area who died early last month.

Political activities are likely to be stepped up in the constituency this weekend by the two major contending political parties with the NPP leaving no stone unturned in its endeavour to retain the seat while the NDC makes frantic efforts to cause an upset.

Five political parties are contesting the Chereponi by-election.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) New Patriotic Party (NPP), People's National Convention (PNC), Democratic People's Party (DPP) and New Vision Party (NVP) are the contesting parties.
