In Nkrumah, there were no barriers but one Ghana-Mills

Accra, Sept 21, Ghanadot - The
President of the Republic of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills,
in his nation’s address for Osagyfo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah
centenary celebration, has
described Ghana’s First President as a selfless and
visionary leader who fought for
the liberation of Ghana rather than
promote ethnic barriers.
“In Dr. Nkrumah, there was no North,
South, East or
West,
there was only one Ghana.”
President Mills noted that Dr. Nkrumah equipped the Ghanaian
with a sense of self-worth, national pride and unity and
promoted the Ghanaian identity far and beyond the shores of
Africa.
Ghana’s independence struggle and the role Dr. Kwame Nkrumah
played, according President Mills,
cannot be overlooked but adored and celebrated immensely.
According to him, a nation which does not honour its
heroes is not worth dying for, thus this is the time for the
whole of Ghana to celebrate one man who brought unity and
oneness in the African continent.
He said, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah despite all odds,
projected Ghana to the world, as a true Black Star of Africa
and emphasized “our independence, our ownership or resources
and our capacity to manage our resources and take charge of
our future and destiny.
“Also Kwame Nkrumah created the Ghanaian and African
personality which resulted in the
continuation of the messages in
them.”
The President reiterated that that this day, 21st of
September, 2009, should serve as a day Ghanaians begin to
bring new life into Dr. Nkrumah’s vision of strong, and
united Ghana.
“Let us grab this opportunity and rekindle our sense of
national pride and self-worth, let us care for each other and
by so doing we can care for mother Ghana.”
To the youth, President Mills said, “the future is yours.
Take control of your destiny, knowing that thou shall
profit nothing if you gain the whole world and loses your
soul.”
Accra, Sept 18, Ghanadot - Nana Akufo-Addo sees the

Africans, in general, to join hands to honour “one of

movement did not start with Nkrumah but neither did it start
with the UGCC. It started long before that but it was the
singularly effort of one man Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah that
won us independence and for that we should be thankful.
