Accra, April 20, Ghanadot - One hundred and six students (106) of the Christ the King International School in Kumasi future has been dashed and their hope of entering Senior High School misplaced due to authorities failure to register them for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) which begins Monday, April 20, 2009.

The students were said to have paid GH¢15.00 each for their MOCK examination and registration fees, but the monies cannot be accounted for.

Mr. Adu Gyamfi, head teacher and Proprietor of the school after collecting the money gave the children false index numbers for the examination, but fortunately, Mr. Gyamfi have been arrested by the police to help in their investigation.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Mr. Alex Tettey-Enyo has called on the police to intensify their investigations to ensure that the perpetrators are punished by law.

According to him, the children be allowed to take part in today's B.E.C.E exams, adding that the details of their index numbers could be sorted out by Tuesday, to enable them participate fully in this year’s B.E.C.E

He said it is unfortunate that such a thing has happened to these young ones who are now finding their future and advised other teachers and head teachers who are fond of doing that to stop or face the law.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for OforiKrom in the Ashanti Region, Elizabeth Agyemang has promised to go to the aid of the 106 B.E.C.E Candidates who were denied the opportunity to take part in the exams following their proprietor squandering their registration fees.

In an interview with Peace FM, monitored by Ghanadot, Mrs. Agyemang said, she will immediately contact the Education Minister to make sure the matter is resolved for the children to write the exams.

To her, the children had done nothing wrong, to be punished this way. This unfortunate situation has come as a result of the selfish purpose of their head teacher, Mr Agyenim Boateng, she added
