Power outages in Accra is over!

Accra, 23rd Sept. Ghanadot - The intermittent power outages
in parts of Accra and the Eastern Region has been
brought to an end.
Consequently, customers who normally experienced
constant power outages will have no complaints anymore
because the power supply from now on will
be uninterrupted.
The troubled areas in the
past were Hatso and Madina, Ogbodzo, East Legon,
Adenta, Ashale-Botswe and some
other areas in the Greater Accra
Region.
The Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) organised a
working visit to these transmission areas yesterday
concerning the promises made by the ECG in May, 2009 to the
PURC that it would improve power supply to its customers
particularly those in the Accra East Region by the end of
July this year.
Mr. Bruno Detornoo, the acting Project Engineer in charge of
Accra East, said after persistent complaints from consumers
of constant power outages and
interruptions.
He also appeal to customers to pay their bills promptly to
enable the ECG to provide quality services to them.
Explaining further, he said the ECG had resorted to the use
of aluminum conductors to put a stop to the stealing of
cables which also caused power outages.
Meanwhile, the Director of Energy at the PURC, Mr. Emmanuel
Fiati, said the visit formed part of their monitoring
exercise. He also expressed his satisfaction with the work
of the ECG in Accra East Region saying the ECG had fulfilled
its promises to the PURC so far as Accra East Region was
concerned and urged the company to do the same in other
parts of the country.
