 Chief Justice to attend Commonwealth Law Conference

Accra, April 2, Ghanadot/GNA – Mrs. Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, Chief Justice of Ghana, will leave Accra on Wednesday to attend this years’ Commonwealth Law Conference at Hong Kong, China.


A release signed by Mr Divine Addo-Dankwa Kwapong, Director of Communications, said the Chief Justice would lead a three-member delegation to the forum, dubbed “Dynamics of Law in a Rapid Changing World”.


The event which is being organized by the Hong Kong Law Society in collaboration with Commonwealth Association of Lawyers would take place between 5th and 9th April 2009.


The statement said the meeting, which was the 16th in a series, would discuss issues relating to the Judiciary and the Media, how to obtain adequate funding for the Judiciary as well as how to tackle judicial workload.


It said Chief Justice Mrs Wood would deliver a keynote address on the topic “Democracy Good Governance and the Role of the Legal Profession” at the opening ceremony.


The release said other members of the delegation would include Mr Justice Isaac Duose, Justice of the Appeal Court and Ms Justice Barbra Ackah-Yensu of the Commercial Court.
